The paper was a 240??? Gsm cartridge paper. So smooth enough to print on but thick enough for a light wash.
Yes the ink did move, I used calligo safewash so not a true oil based ink. So because it's water soluble it did move and I had left it to dry for a couple of days. It was touch dry, but not sure if it would have been different if I'd have left it for a week.
This also meant I couldn't wash over the woodgrain without the black ink mixing in my colour.
I'm not sure I'm that keen on colour tinting unless you can add lots of blended watercolour techniques.
The flat colours I had to lay down probably should have been done with a multi block approach.
I was also experimenting with a modern flooring lino, that had to be sanded to remove the protective coating. I'm not sure I sanded it enough as it was hard to get a even print. The lino is also quite thin so when I carved the pot I went straight to the hessian backing.
It was a fun project and I like the final design. I may try some chine colle on it....?
This came out well, very nice. I like the bold design and the added colour has worked well. Did you have to be very careful not to get too much water on the ink, or is it not effected by that after it has dried? Also what paper did you use to print on? Quite a thick one? Helen
