Thank you Tricia I was amazed when I took the photo of how many colours filled the sky. It was a sight to behold and too good not to try and replicate in paint. I agree with you entirely and did think I may have taken on too much as the sky progressed. Your experience is greatly appreciated in your feedback hints.
Lovely colours and very dramatic against the silhouettes of the houses. One problem with trying to paint such a large amount of sky is the paint edges drying and getting hard lines.A few things we can do is:Make sure all of the colours are mixed to the right consistency ready to paint with.Have kitchen roll ready to lift out or soak up too much paint.Make sure we wet the whole of the page evenly and we then work quickly. As usual with watercolours lots of preparation and then quite quick painting. My favourite part is how you've captured the brightness of the sun in the wonderful yellow glow dipping behind the rooftop.
