After my lovely one day workshop with David Peduzzi learning wood engraving, guess what I got for Christmas?!
A fantastic set of wood engraving tools and blocks.
The first thing I did was a tester block of all the different marks I could make with my tools.
Then this is my first 'on my own' print.
I still need to work out how to add tones as the stippling didn't really work here. But I'm pleased with the rest.
Comments from home range from;
"Yeah, it's alright"
"No, sure, it's good"
and
"You can't really tell what it is though, can you?"
Do you think Durer or Ravilious went through this sort of thing?
"
Thanks for the feedback. Yes it is supposed to be a worn away groin at the beach.... not sure it's very clear so more practise creating textures I think.
Both the wood block and the printed image as so interesting to look at. It looks like driftwood at the beach but I get very similar comments to the pieces of Work I do.
This looks really good Tricia. A beautiful abstract! Do you find this more difficult than lino carving?
Great result Tricia! It looks difficult to me….. Helen
